The G5 High Rise Hood is a multi-functional unit that can provide fresh, cool air to your intake, and provide an exit vehicle for excessive underhood heat. The High Rise Hood is a "blister" that bolts/epoxies in place and adds approximately 2-1/2" of height to your existing hood, and offers sufficient clearance for the Magnuson intercooled supercharger. The G5 HRH can be ordered with a closed or open, twin-nostril nosepiece.

The High Rise Hood can perform several functions. When used in conjunction with our Ram-air box, the G5 High Rise Hood with twin openings will feed cool and slightly pressurized air to your stock or aftermarket air filter. Additional vents can be cut into your stock hood (beneath the HRH) as an avenue for heat to escape. In this configuration you have the best of both worlds - cool air to your intake, and underhood heat vented out. The result is a cooler running Corvette with significant horsepower gains.

Stock vs. Max Ram Air Hood

The result of the Max Ram Air setup is manyfold: a cooler running engine is more efficient, which may decrease gas consumption. More importantly, the cool and slightly pressurized intake charge will yield a significant increase in horsepower. Because the heat generated by your engine now has an escape route, underhood temperatures will drop. With this lower temperature, less heat is transmitted to the interior. Your air conditioner now has to work less to keep your cabin cooler. As a parasitic consumer of horsepower, your air conditioner will draw less power from your engine, resulting in a small recoup of lost power. The net result is a cooler running, more efficient engine that will produce more power while reducing operating and cabin temperatures.

The closed-nose hood will help in dissipating heat via the cowl end. The open-nosed hood can also be used, sans Ram-air box, as a vent for allowing cool air to enter your engine compartment, with excess heat and pressure being vented at the rear. The twin-nostril design requires cutting two holes in your stock hood.

G5 Clearance & Cowl Induction Hood

When configured as a closed-nose hood, our HRH can be used for those applications where additional height is needed to clear higher intake manifolds and superchargers. Even with the closed nose design you can reap some benefits from a cowl induction arrangement. With a hole cut into the front part of your hood (underneath the HRH), you will benefit from some cooler air being directed toward your intake.

Of course, the best of all worlds would include a supercharger for prodigious amounts of horsepower and torque, aided by the open-nosed HRH and RamBox for additional cooling of intake and engine. At this point we would also recommend our Max Flow intake system for even greater gains in power by unrestricting the air inlet and smoothing the airflow to the throttle body.

G5 Super Max Ram Air Hood

The G5 High Rise Hood comes with a cowl vent and stainless steel mesh grill for that finished, yet functional look. Debris is kept out while hot underhood air is allowed to escape.
